Situated on the ancient Silk Road in Aksaray, Turkey, the Sultanhan was built in 1229 during the Seljuk Empire and remains the largest caravanserai in the country. Known for its massive, fortress-like walls and the spectacularly carved marble portal, it provided sanctuary for traveling merchants.
